Why Shanese Logan Chose Capital Law

4/27/2017  - Shanese Logan, L’17, is a 4th year, part-time evening student at Capital University Law School. To her, attending Capital is like being part of a large family. Capital has given Shanese the opportunity, experience, and resources to grow as a student, mentor, and future lawyer.

Shanese was born in Warren, Ohio, a small city that she always felt was family-oriented and supportive of her growth and accomplishments. As a young child, Shanese and her family moved to Columbus, where she got the chance to experience a bigger city that provided many opportunities for her to prosper in the legal field and build long lasting relationships with others.

Since the age of 10, Shanese has always had the passion to become a lawyer so that she can help seek justice for others. Shanese knew that furthering her education would lead her down the road to becoming a lawyer. She attended the very first private, historically black college and university, Wilberforce University, in Wilberforce, Ohio. While there, Shanese majored in Political Science.

After graduating Cum Laude in 2009 with a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science, Shanese applied to several law schools in Ohio. However, she initially did not apply to Capital because she feared that it was out of her reach. Shanese finally had an epiphany which gave her the courage to apply to Capital, the school that ended up sending her her first law school acceptance letter. The day Shanese received it, she knew she was one step closer to her dream. Capital felt like family and really showed her that she was a great asset to the Capital Law family.

Shanese’s favorite class in law school thus far has been Torts with Professor Susan Gilles. Torts has shown Shanese how the law is applied in many different ways through activities and practice essays that helped her better understand the topic.

After graduating from Capital, Shanese intends to pursue her lifelong dream of being a prosecutor. She is very grateful to be a part of Capital and that Capital is a part of her.
