• Sign up for my TWEN page - “Civil Procedure: 2023 Rules GILLES.”   The assignments will be posted on that TWEN page by December 30, 2022.  (Note: take care to sign up for the 2023 class!)

REQUIRED TEXTS

• The main “book” for this class is an interactive online program -  CLICK AND LEARN: CIVIL PROCEDURE (C&L), by Upchurch, Gilles, and Ho ($34.95), from Carolina Academic Press.  Instructions on how to purchase C&L are below.  Do NOT try to order this through the bookstore – just follow the instructions below. 
• This course is entitled “Rules,” so you will need a copy of the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure (“Rules”). Here are your options
  • The Rules are available free online.  Some sites allow you to download or print the Rules (for example, http://www.law.cornell.edu/rules/frcp). There is also an “app” that has the Rules.  You can also download versions of the Rules from LexisNexis or Westlaw.
  • OR many students prefer to have a hard copy of the Rules.  You may purchase any current version you wish:  There were no relevant amendments to the Rules we are studying in 2022, therefore you can purchase a hard copy version of the old FRCP 2021-2022 or this year’s new version FRCP 2022-2023.   If you wish to purchase this year’s version, I recommend you purchase   CAROLINA ACADEMIC PRESS - FEDERAL RULES OF CIVIL PROCEDURE, 2022–2023 EDITION, ISBN 978-1-5310-2412-3 for $39.00. 
• Note that you MUST have a copy of the current Rules at all times in the class: “ my rule link won’t work” or “I can’t find my Rule book” are not acceptable excuses. 

How do I purchase and log on to Click & Learn: Civil Procedure?To purchase C&L:CP follow the instructions below with care.   Also make sure to join the correct class - see below - or you will not get class participation credit. 

• Go to clickandlearnguide.com [Or go to Carolina Academic Press’ website and search for “Click & Learn: Civil Procedure.”
• Click on “Create Student Account
• Complete the form and be sure to select "Ohio" for your “State” and "Capital University Law School" for your “Institution.”  Use your law school email address please.
• It is up to you if you purchase a 12 month subscription (all that is required for this class) or a 3 year subscription so you can also use it as you prepare for the Bar Exam. 
• Enter your credit card information and verify the purchase.
• Continue to Register Your Account (see image below):  
  • Create a password – write it down!
  • Make sure to ENTER YOUR “CLASS CODE” in “Class Information.” 
    • SECTION A is 123-166-3784
    • SECTION B is 123-166-2491
  • You must include the “-“ in the code.
    
    

If you forget to enter your Class Code or put in the wrong one, at any point you can click on “My Account” and correct it. Click on Technical Support in the SUPPORT menu.
