Counseling Services
Law students may receive free counseling services at the Law School (5th floor) and at the Center for Health and Wellness. Individual, relationship, and group counseling services are provided. Workshops, consultations, and outreach services are also available (see below for current workshops). You may request your first counseling appointment by completing the online inquiry form, emailing Dr. Cathy McDaniels Wilson or Stacy Ingraham, or calling the CHW (614-236-6114).
After scheduling an intake counseling appointment, students should complete the following forms and bring them to their appointment:

A Note About Confidentiality
Information you discuss in counseling sessions is confidential and will not be shared with anyone outside of the CHW without your written permission. There are some legal and ethical exceptions to confidentiality: (1) when disclosure is necessary to protect against a clear and substantial risk of imminent serious harm being inflicted by the client on him/herself or on another person. (2) When disclosure is compelled by a court or (3) when the client is a minor. We adhere to professional, legal and ethical guidelines established by professional organizations and state and federal law. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact a member of our counseling staff.
Ohio Lawyers Assistance Program
The Ohio Lawyers Assistance Program (OLAP) is a resource for judges, lawyers and law students to help with alcoholism, substance abuse or other addictions and mental illness in a confidential setting. The OLAP toll free hotline - which is available 24/7 - is 800-248-4343.

If you are at the law school and have an emergency, contact security at 614-236-6161. For off campus emergencies, call 911.
Fall 2012 Workshops
Tackle Stress
Students will be presented with ideas about how to better manage stress and anxiety specific to relaxation training, self-monitoring exercises, time management, and cognitive restructuring skills. Snacks and beverages will be provided.

Performance Enhancement
Students will learn techniques that will assist in enhancing their overall academic and life performance, including cognitive restructuring, assertive communication, and self-care. Snacks and beverages will be provided.

Manage Test Anxiety
Learn ideas about how to better manage stress and anxiety during exams. Relaxation exercises and self-monitoring exercises will be taught and practiced. Snacks and beverages will be provided.

Walk-in Stress & Anxiety Management Consultations
Wondering if your anxiety, irritability, physical pain, moodiness, sleep issues, or sadness might be something more severe? Stop by for a few minutes to pick up some information, learn stress and anxiety management techniques, engage in relaxation exercises, complete a confidential self-assessment, and/or get some feedback from a member of the CHW counseling staff.
