Brian A. Freeman was a Professor of Law (1967-2001), Associate Dean (1984-98) and Interim Dean (1988-89/1993-1994) at Capital University Law School. Combining three and one-half years of experience in federal and state government with 30 years of teaching experience, Professor Freeman taught Constitutional Law and Trusts. He prepared his own teaching materials in those areas and published several law review articles maintaining high expectations for his students.

He was a former judge advocate in the U.S. Air Force and a former assistant attorney general for the State of Ohio. He was a consultant to the Ohio Department of Education and the Ohio Municipal League, a former member and past president of the Bexley, Ohio Board of Education and Secretary and member of the Board of Directors of the Columbus Clippers Baseball Team. Professor Freeman was named Association of American Law Schools Teacher of the Year (2002).

A mentor and friend to many, he was dedicated to his students, reportedly working as hard to help them find employment as he did teaching them in the classroom.

Professor Freeman passed away February 23, 2002. After his death, his friends, family, colleagues and former students created the Brian A. Freeman Memorial Fund for Excellence in Constitutional Law.
