Parking

Parking

The Law School provides free parking for students, faculty, and staff. Please refer to the following for student and faculty parking.

Beginning Monday, August 19, 2024 – the first day of classes – Security will monitor parking permits and issue a ticket to any student without a valid parking permit or who is parking in Lot 1 or other designated Faculty/Staff spaces. Security may tow your vehicle if there are additional offenses. You will be responsible for all costs associated with towing your vehicle.

Student Parking

The Law School provides a limited number of free parking spaces. You are not guaranteed parking spaces in either Lot 2 or Lot 4.

Lot #2 (1-2 min walk):

  • Lot 2 is next to the Law School on the corner of Grant Street and Capital Street. Students may park in the center two rows and the buddy parking row (against the Law School building) unless otherwise reserved.
  • Do not park in spaces designated for Faculty and Staff along the Grant St. fence until after 5:00 pm. These spaces are available for students only after 5:00 pm and on weekends.
  • Anyone who parks in a buddy parking space MUST leave their keys with Security. This document constitutes notice that if you do not leave your keys, Security may tow your vehicle as needed (i.e., in an emergency, if the person parked in the adjoining buddy space needs to leave the parking lot, and other similar situations). You will be responsible for any costs associated with towing your vehicle.
  • Student spaces in Lot 2 usually are full by 8:30 am. Plan your schedule accordingly.

Lot #4 (8-10 min walk):

  • Lot 4 is off-campus parking (at Franklin University). It is located on East Rich Street, just east of South Grant Avenue. CapLaw has 75 spaces in Lot B (on the eastern side of the Rich Street Lofts building).
  • You can enter Lot B from either East Rich Street or East Walnut Street.
  • You must visibly display the CapLaw parking permit in your vehicle to park in Lot 4.
  • Lot 4 is an 8-minute walk from the Law School.

Student Parking is Prohibited in Lot 1

Students may not park in Lot 1 at any time. It is reserved for Faculty/Staff or those with a valid disability license plate or placard. Security will issue tickets to students who park in Lot 1 or may tow vehicles after repeat offenses at the student’s expense.

Faculty Parking

  • Students cannot park in Lot #1. Students who park in Lot #1 will be ticketed/towed by Security at Student’s expense.

Faculty and Staff

Lot 1 is reserved for Faculty and Staff. In Lot 2, spaces are designated along the Grant Street fence for Faculty and Staff only. Only after 5:00 pm are students permitted to park in the Lot 2 spaces.

Visitor Parking

Six (6) visitor parking spots are located in Lot #2, located on the corner of Broad Street and Grant Avenue accessible via Capital Street. Guests must have prior permission to park in these spots. All guest parking requests must be approved by Security.

Shuttle Service

The Law School provides a shuttle to and from Lot 4 in the fall and spring semesters. The shuttle schedule will change from semester to semester based on class schedules, work schedules, anticipated weather conditions, and rider volume.

The shuttle schedule is as follows for the fall 2024 semester: Monday – Thursday from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm and from 4:00 pm to 10:00 pm (subject to change for Special Events if needed).
