3/17/2020 - Capital University Law School’s part-time evening program made it an easy choice for Wayne Hiles, L‘22. Wayne works full time at JPMorgan Chase Bank as a vice president and business program manager. Specifically, Wayne supports legal regulatory change management for Chase Digital.

“There wasn’t even a question about which law school I was going to attend,” he says. “Capital is the only law school in Columbus that offers a part-time evening program that is devoted to people who also work full time and have families.

“Additionally, several of my friends attended Capital Law in the past and told me how willing the professors are to help students learn, and how close the group of students are. It was an easy decision.”

Wayne earned his bachelor of arts degree in strategic communications from The Ohio State University in 2010. After graduating from OSU, Wayne went to work for JPMorgan Chase as a branch banker and quickly rose through the ranks to his current position.

He cites contracts and property as his two favorite classes. “The topics we covered in both classed related to and helped me improve in my current role at Chase and reaffirmed what I want to do post-bar,” he says.

Once he receives his juris doctorate and passes the bar, Wayne plans on moving into the general counsel’s office at JPMorgan Chase as an in-house counsel. He says he intends to specialize in banking or securities-related law.

When he is not working or studying, Wayne spends time with his wife and son. “Don’t get me wrong, we love Columbus and don’t want to ever live anywhere else,” he says. “However, when we have the ability, my family and I love to travel. We love to visit various locations on the ocean as my wife and I are certified SCUBA divers.”
