CapLaw Represents: Dan Creekmur Leads in the Energy Sector

6/13/2018  -  Dan Creekmur, L’08, is the President and Chief Operating Officer of Columbia Gas of Ohio. He has held that position for 4 years. He oversees the execution of regulatory, legislative and external strategies for delivering natural gas service to 1.4 million customers across the company’s 61-county service territory.

Prior to becoming President and COO, Mr. Creekmur was the Vice President and General Manager of Operations for Columbia Gas of Ohio. From 2011 to 2013, he served as Vice President, Regulatory Affairs. for Columbia Gas of Ohio, where he led Columbia’s regulatory initiatives and strategy and the company’s economic development, local government policy and strategic initiatives functions, as well as its energy assistance and energy efficiency programs. Mr. Creekmur began his career with Columbia Gas of Ohio in 2007 as an attorney, handling matters before the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio and Public Service Commission of Kentucky.

Mr. Creekmur encourages Columbia Gas of Ohio employees to give back to their communities through board service and volunteerism, a practice he follows personally as well. Mr. Creekmur helped launch the Columbia Cares philanthropic program at the company and Columbus Business First honored Columbia Gas of Ohio as Benefactor of the Year at the 2016 Corporate Caring Awards. Mr. Creekmur currently serves on the Executive Committee for the Board of Trustees for Capital University, the Board of Directors for the Columbus Chamber of Commerce, and the Board for the Mid-Ohio Foodbank. He also serves as Chair of Champions for the Habitat Housing Initiatives, Habitat for Humanity-Mid Ohio’s five-year plan to transform communities through homebuilding, rehabs and repairs.

At Columbia Gas of Ohio, Mr. Creekmur serves as a board member of the NiSource Foundation, the Executive Committee of NiPAC, and the Talent Board of the NiSource Regulatory Talent Development Program.

Mr. Creekmur holds a Bachelor degree from Miami University and received his law degree from Capital University Law School. He is originally from Beavercreek, Ohio.

When asked about his fondest memory of law school, he replied: “Oddly enough, I recall those endless days and nights studying in the library to prepare for an exam. It’s that first type of hard work that provides you with a feeling of accomplishment and pride – to know that you earned the opportunity and made the most of it.”
