Professional Development: December 2012

  • Class of 2012 – We Need Your Help!
Every fall, the Office of Professional Development (OPD) surveys recent Capital University Law School Juris Doctor (J.D.) graduates six to nine months after May Commencement. The primary goal of the survey is to provide current and prospective students with valuable information in order to make informed decisions. The data is also collected and reported to the American Bar Association (ABA) as well as NALP - The Association for Legal Career Professionals. All information reported is done so confidentially.

If you haven’t already done so, please log in to your Symplicity account and proceed to your profile tab to complete the “Graduate Employment Survey.” Please contact the OPD Director, Shawn Beem, with questions or issues with the survey.

    Capital Law Connect
One of the most important professional skills a student should hone is networking. The ability to build and maintain lasting relationships with other professionals is critical to ongoing success and career development. Given the importance of building such relationships, Capital University Law School has created the online Capital Law Connect program.

Capital Law Connect seeks to connect active Capital alumni with current students interested in learning more about the legal profession. It’s our hope that this professional network will foster better student networking and informal mentoring relationships.

Student users will be able to review Capital alumni professional profiles and to contact alumni via Symplicity to coordinate an informational interview. Alumni will be able to limit the number and form of contacts students may make at any given time.

Currently, Capital alumni are creating their online profiles. Then, in the spring of 2013, we will open Capital Law Connect to students so that they can begin connecting with our successful alumni.

How to Register to Participate in Capital Law Connect
Capital Law Connect is housed by Symplicity, the Law School's Career Management System. If you have an existing account, simply log in with your username and password, and click on the Capital Law Connect tab.

If you are not an existing Symplicity user, or are unsure if you have an account, then complete the online registration form and a member of the Office of Professional Development will contact you with additional information to create a Symplicity account.
