    Mandatory Email Accounts

    All official University communications (registration, billing, etc) are sent to each student’s Capital University Law School email address. Therefore all students must have, and regularly check their Capital University Law School email account. Please contact the IT department at 614-236-6432  or IT@law.captial.edu with any questions regarding your Capital University Law School email account.

    First Assignments

    Each semester first assignments and other preliminary course information are posted online.

    Student IDs and Parking Permits

    Coursework

    The following coursework is required for completion of your Certificate Program - which totals 18 credit hours.

    Required Core Courses: (7 hours required)  

    • 5 day Mediation Training and follow-up Mediation Theory - 3 credits
    • Negotiation - 2 credits
    • Dispute Resolution - 2 credits

    Required Practice Courses: (7 hours required) 

    • Mediation Clinic - 3 credits
    • Externship - 2 credits (Scot Dewhirst will help you select Externship Placement)
    • Writing Requirement – 2 credits (Administered by Terry Wheeler)

    Electives: (4 hours required)  

    • 4 hours from any of the other dispute resolution courses that are offered.

    One of the program faculty members will be assigned as your advisor. Please do not hesitate to contact them if you have any questions about your registration or your program requirements, or if you wish to discuss elective courses.
