The Capital University Law School Small Business Clinic (“SBC”) is a class for third-year law students. The class is designed to give the students an opportunity to apply the legal skills and theories they have learned in the classroom to real world matters by providing pro bono legal services to Columbus based small businesses that cannot afford to pay market rates for legal services. The students work directly with the SBC’s clients under the supervision of staff attorney Eric R. McLoughlin. The SBC does not charge for its legal services, but its clients are required to pay all filing fees and other actual expenses incurred in their representation.
The most common legal services the SBC provides include formation of for-profit business entities and contract review and drafting. The SBC is no longer assisting nonprofit organizations with entity formation or applications for tax-exempt status.
The SBC’s intake is full for the spring 2013 semester. If you would like to learn more about the SBC program, please contact Eric R. McLoughlin at 614-236-6245, or
