Shawn Beem is a graduate of the University of Dayton and Capital University Law School. In law school, he was a law clerk for the Office of Disciplinary Counsel of the Supreme Court of Ohio and an extern to the Ohio CASA/GAL Association. He also served as the Public Interest Law Coordinator for Capital and, in addition, was Co-President of the Bisexual, Gay & Lesbian Law Association. A strong student leader in law school, Shawn is a recipient of the Ronald I. Friedman Award.
Prior to law school, Shawn spent a year studying at the Université de Strasbourg in France during which he was an English lecturer at the Collège Episcopale St. Etienne. He is also a Leopold Schepp Foundation Scholar.
As director of the Office of Professional Development at Capital Law, he counsels Juris Doctor, LL.M., Paralegal, and Master of Taxation students and alumni in employment search strategies, cover letter and resume preparation, interviewing, networking, professional etiquette, and career development including public interest, patent, judicial clerkships, and alternative legal and non-legal careers. Shawn also develops and maintains relationships with employers including law firms, government agencies, corporations, and non-profit entities
