In a surprise announcement, David Meyer, L’95, T’96, chair of the Law School Alumni Association Board, and Gary Hammond, L’80, chair of the Board of Counselors, presented Dean Jack Guttenberg with a check for more than $17,000 in honor and recognition of Guttenberg’s five years of service as dean of Capital University Law School to support the Loan Repayment Assistance Fund.

“So many exciting things have happened for the Law School under Dean Guttenberg’s leadership and we thought it would be wonderful to mark his fifth anniversary in some meaningful way,” said Meyer. “As a former public defender himself, we know that the dean has a passion for providing financial assistance to students who go into public service. In fact, the dean and his wife, Stephanie, created a fund to support alumni in the public sector by helping pay back their student loans. So Gary and I reached out to the members of our boards and asked them to make a contribution, meaningful to them, to the Dean Jack A. Guttenberg/Stephanie Cartwright Loan Repayment Assistance Fund, so that more alumni may benefit from the dean’s fund.”
“The amount we raised far surpassed our goal and is strong acknowledgment by alumni for the outstanding job Dean Guttenberg is doing and how proud we are of our Law School,” Meyer and Hammond said.
Thank you to the following firms, individuals and organizations for sponsoring tables at the luncheon:
In addition to the awards lunch, other alumni day events included a CLE on Wills, Estate Planning and Probate, which attracted 50 registrants; an all alumni and bar success reception; and a 25th and 50th Class Reunion dinner.
