Biography
Professor Grant focuses his practice at the Standley Law Group in Dublin
to the field of intellectual property, that is, patents, trademarks and
copyrights. He is especially focused on the acquisition of intellectual
property rights for clients by direct representation in the appropriate
government agency. His most particular expertise is in the prosecution
of United States patent applications that originated in foreign patent
offices.
Professor Grant’s career has encompassed more than ten years of
engineering and technical management at The Standard Oil Company/BP and
twenty years of law practice in intellectual property, in northeast and
central Ohio.
Professor Grant has been admitted to practice for more than
twenty years in the United States Patent and Trademark Office, the
Supreme Court of Ohio, the Northern Ohio Federal District Court and the
Federal Circuit Court of Appeals. He has been a frequent speaker at
continuing legal education courses, as well as at general education
presentations for inventors, writers and artists. He is a regular
contributor to the newsletter of the Ohio State Bar Association
Intellectual Property Law Section.
In addition to Capital, where he teaches intellectual property
law and patent law, Professor Grant has been an adjunct at The
University of Akron School of Law, where he has taught copyright law and
art law, and the Claude W. Pettit College of Law at Ohio Northern
University, where he has taught patent law.
