Biography
Professor Alan Duffy is an associate in the Vorys Columbus office and
a member
of the labor and employment group. He practices in the area of
executive compensation and works closely with public, private, and
tax-exempt employers.
Career Highlights:
- Negotiating and implementing all
forms of compensation programs, including executive employment
agreements, change in control agreements, severance agreements, bonus
plans, incentive plans, equity plans (stock options, restricted stock,
phantom and shadow equity), nonqualified deferred compensation,
Supplemental Executive Retirement Plans (SERPs), excess benefit plans,
and “Section 457” plans of tax-exempt employers
- Working closely with clients to address issues involving
reasonable compensation, such as Section 162(m) limitations, golden
parachutes, and intermediate sanctions
Duffy is a member of the American Bar Association, the New York State Bar Association and the Columbus Bar Association.
Duffy is a frequent speaker and has presented on various
topics, including taxable and tax-free mergers and reorganizations,
running a non-profit organization, Circular 230 and church
compensation. He has made presentations for the Columbus Bar
Association, the Church of the Living God International, the Practicing
Law Institute and the Ohio Association of Nonprofit Organizations.
