Mr. Dewhirst is a partner engaged in the private practice of law with the Columbus firm of Artz, Dewhirst & Wheeler, LLP. His areas of practice include dispute resolution, estate planning, business, and criminal law. As an Adjunct Professor of law since 1989, he teaches Negotiation, Mediation, Mediation Clinic and Interviewing and Counseling courses at Capital. Mr. Dewhirst's dispute resolution activities are numerous. He has developed mediation projects in Jamaica and Nicaragua, conducted mediation and negotiation training programs, and produced negotiation and mediation training manuals and videos. He was a Co-Founder and has been Co-Director of the Center for Dispute Resolution at Capital University School since 1984. He has been has actively been involved in dispute resolution since 1977 as a mediator, arbitrator, public speaker, trainer, and program director. Previously, he was the Executive Assistant to the Columbus City Attorney acting as the Claims Manager for the city of Columbus and attorney for the Columbus Development Department. Prior to that he was Assistant City Attorney in the Prosecutor's Office and served as Director of the Columbus Night Prosecutor Mediation Program for seven years.
