Biography

Fenner Stewart is an Assistant Professor of Law at Capital University Law School, where he teaches Business Associations, Corporate Finance, Comparative Corporate Law, Advanced Administrative Theory and Oil and Gas Law. He is the Director of Academic Affairs and Community Outreach at the Midwest Center for Energy Law and Policy at Capital University, where he is responsible for overseeing the Center’s day-to-day operations. He is also the faculty advisor for Capital’s course concentration in Energy Law and Policy.

Before coming to Capital University, Stewart held various academic positions. Of note, Stewart served as a Research Associate at the Centre for Asian Legal Studies and the Liu Institute for Global Issues in Vancouver, British Columbia. Most recently, he was the Director of Academic Programs at the Comparative Research in Law and Political Economy Network at Osgoode Hall Law School in Toronto, Ontario, where he also served as the Acting Academic Co-Director. Stewart also worked in the private sector at one of the largest law firms in Atlantic Canada.

Stewart’s current research is focused on the regulation of Ohio’s energy sector. His previous written work has focused on regulatory theory and corporate governance. His writings have been published in various publications including Cambridge University Press, and Seattle University Law Review. He has a new article forthcoming in spring of 2014 in the Indiana Journal of Global Legal Studies.

Stewart is a Ph.D. candidate at Osgoode Hall Law School. He received his J.D. and LL.M. from the University of British Columbia and his B.A. from the University of Prince Edward Island. Prior to coming to Capital, Stewart was a visiting scholar at Columbia Law School. He has also taught at Osgoode Hall Law School and the Faculty of Environmental Studies at York University in Toronto, Canada.
