Q. Do I need to register SofTest on my computer
every semester?
A. No. You only need to register
SofTest every fall semester. Registering ensures that your ExamSoft account is
active (for 1 academic year, beginning in the fall semester) and that you are
able to download and install SofTest on your laptop. Once you register SofTest
in the fall, you do not need to re-register until the following fall semester.
If you register in the spring or summer, you will need to re-register that fall
semester. In any event that you need to uninstall/reinstall SofTest on your
laptop or install it on a new laptop, you will first need to remove it from your
old laptop and then download, install & register SofTest on the new laptop
in order to use the software on that machine.
Q. I’ve downloaded, installed and registered SofTest
on my laptop. How do I know that it works properly before I start my
exams?
A. You can download the Mock exam or click
on “Start Practice Exam” to go through a mock test environment with SofTest on
your laptop to ensure the program and your laptop is functioning properly.
Q. I did not get an email saying that my exam is available to
download. When do I receive notification that my exam is available to
download?
A. Once exam files are created and
uploaded to ExamSoft; you will receive a email notification saying that it is
available for download. You will also receive a reminder email the day before
your exam, stating that you have an exam file to download.
Q. I registered for SofTest, but later realized that I am going to
handwrite my exams. I keep getting emails, reminding me to download my exam
file. Is this a problem?
A. No, this is not an
issue. Since you originally registered in ExamSoft, as a registered user, it
thinks you are using SofTest. Since you are now handwriting your exams, you can
disregard the email notifications to download your exam file.
Q. What is the latest time that I can download the exam file on my
laptop to use for my exam?
A. You have up to 1hr
before your scheduled exam to download the exam file to your laptop. This is in
the “Attention” notice when you installed SofTest on your laptop. Failure to do
so will result in you having to handwrite the current exam.
Q. Who do I talk to if I need an accommodation for my
exam(s)?
A. You will need to contact Student
Services. You can also fill out an accommodated exam schedule request form and
turn it in to student services.
- For midterm
exams: You will need to turn in your form 2 weeks
prior to your first scheduled midterm exam.
- For final
exams: You will need to turn in your form 30 days
prior to the 1st day of each final exam period.
Q. I have an exam conflict and need to schedule my exam at a
different date/time. What do I do?
A. There are
two exam conflict forms available. One, is designed for those with a personal
conflict; and the other is designed for those who have two exam scheduled within
one 24-hour period. Check the Records and Registration webpages for more information about these forms.
Q. If something happens to my laptop while I’m typing, will I lose my
entire typed essay?
A. No. You will not lose all of
what you’ve typed for your exam. SofTest saves your work automatically every 60
seconds. After the exam, notify your proctor so that IT can be notified to
assist you with getting your exam file on your laptop.
