Opportunity lies within.
They are three simple words, but at Capital University Law School, they convey a great deal. We believe opportunity lies within our classrooms. Within our faculty. Within our students and our alumni. Within the real-world learning opportunities our students gain from externships, legal clinic work, pro bono service and other experiential learning.
And we believe opportunity lies within YOU. The opportunity to make a difference in the world through the unique skills and knowledge you gain with a legal education. The opportunity to lead a successful and rewarding career, either as a practicing attorney or through any of the countless other career paths a legal education makes available.
Capital offers an extensive curriculum that balances theory and real-world skills; a high-caliber faculty who are as accessible as they are enthusiastic; a downtown metropolitan location in the heart of Ohio's legal and government community; a student-centered philosophy; and an ideal environment for intellectual growth.
Extensive CurriculumCapital’s extensive curriculum and programs allow you to enroll in our full-time, part-time day or part-time evening programs. Our juris doctor program emphasizes critical skills — legal research, writing, dispute resolution and analysis — that you can apply to a variety of legal and professional careers. Our curriculum encompasses more than 120 elective courses, running the gamut of business and commercial law, property, criminal law and procedure, public law, international law, litigation and taxation. Our concentrations and joint degree programs will allow you to focus in an area of the law and expand your knowledge for the legal and business world. You can pursue a concentration in dispute resolution, environmental law, governmental affairs, labor and employment, publicly-held companies, small business entities, and children and family, or you may decide to combine your juris doctor with another degree: LL.M. in Tax, Business, or Business and Tax; Master of Business Administration; Master of Sports Administration/Facility Management; Master of Science in Nursing; or Master of Theology.
