    Balmert  F. Daniel Balmert of Vorys Sater, Seymour & Pease LLP was selected as a 2013 Ohio Super Lawyer®.  Mr. Balmert is the managing partner of the Vorys Akron office and practices in the areas of general litigation, product litigation, employment law and workers’ compensation. 


     Trafford  Kathleen M. Trafford, a parter at Porter Wright Morris & Arthur LLP,  has been named an Ohio Super Lawyer®. Mrs. Trafford was also recognized as one of the Top 100 Super Lawyers for 2013. Mrs. Trafford concentrates her practice in the area of governmental and regulatory litigation and constitutional law. .



    Vorys  John “Jay” Vorys, a partner at Vorys, Sater, Seymour & Pease LLP, was selected as a 2013 Ohio Super Lawyer® in corporate practice. Mr. Vorys specializes in general corporate law, securities regulation law, and community bank law and regulations. 
     Linville  Baker Hostetler announced that Ronald G. Linville has been named Managing Partner of the firm’s Columbus office, succeeding fellow partner Daniel J. Gunsett. Mr. Linville previously served as the chair of the firm’s national Labor and Employment practice, where he will continue to maintain an active practice.

    Stephen D. Jones 

    Stephen D. Jones, a partner at Roetzel and Andress LPA, has been named a 2013 Ohio Super Lawyer®. Mr. Jones focuses his practice on general business and commercial litigation, eminent domain, public law litigation, product liability, medical negligence defense and intellectual property.


    Rosenberg  Thomas Rosenberg, a partner at Roetzel & Andress LPA, has been named a 2013 Ohio Super Lawyer®. Mr. Rosenberg focuses his practice on construction law and civil litigation. He has been selected to this distinction for the past ten years. 


    Hogue  Bryan K. Hogue of Carlile Patchen and Murphy has been listed in Best Lawyers ® in America for 2013.  Mr. Hogue represents individuals, business owners and closely held businesses with respect to their estate and tax planning, business succession planning and general corporate and business matters.   


    McQuown  Richard McQuown, a partner in the Corporate Department of Porter Wright Morris & Arthur LLP, has been named a 2013 Ohio Super Lawyer®. His diverse practice includes counseling start-up, development stage and seasoned private companies in general business matters, choice of entity, corporate governance, federal and state securities law compliance, strategic partnerships and mergers and acquisitions.

    Mark S. Cappuccio, of Eastburn and Gray, P.C. in Pennsylvania, was honored with the President’s Award by the Montgomery Bar Association. The prestigious award was presented for his outstanding work and successful real estate tax appeal representation he handled on behalf of the Montgomery Bar Association in 2012. 



    Roper  James Roper of Isaac Brant Ledman & Teetor LLP has been named a 2013 Ohio Super Lawyer®. For the past 25 years, Jim has been lead counsel in hundreds of civil lawsuits in various state and federal jurisdiction throughout Ohio. He has developed a diverse civil litigation practice representing both plaintiffs and defendants in insurance and personal injury claims involving medical malpractice, professional negligence, product liability, premises liability as well as other complex litigation claims. 




    Taneff  Tommy Taneff was chosen as a 2013 Ohio Super Lawyer® and also made the Columbus Top 50. He is included among the top 5% of attorneys in Oho. This is the third year in a row that Mr. Taneff has been chosen for this honor. He focuses his practice on probate, estate planning, adoption, guardianships and surrogacy.




    Tarullo  Michael Tarullo, an engineer as well as an attorney, joined the law firm Welin O’Shaughnessy & Scheaf LLC. He focuses his practice in construction law and is a Fellow of the American College of Construction Lawyers, one of only two such members in Ohio.



    Carlson  Porter Wright Morris & Arthur LLP announced that law firm partner, Craig Carlson, has been recognized as a 2013 Ohio Super Lawyer®. As one of the leaders in the firm's insurance litigation practice area, Craig devotes a significant portion of his practice to the defense of life insurers regarding issues such as death benefit and bad faith claims, and has defended such claims in state and federal courts throughout the United States..


    OKeefe  Bobbie Corley O’Keefe,of Carlile Patchen & Murphy LLP has been selected for induction into The American Society of Legal Advocates, an invitation-only nationwide organization of elite lawyers in practice today who combine outstanding legal credentials with a proven commitment to community engagement and the highest professional standards. Ms. O’Keefe's practice focuses in the area of collaborative law, mediation, divorce and custody, local government law, public records and open meetings.


     Starn  The Hononrable Jonathan P. Starn was appointed to the Board of Trustees for the Ohio Judicial College by Ohio Supreme Court Justice Maureen O’Connor. Judge Starn will be among 10 trustees who advise the Judicial College on educational programs and activities for court personnel.


    Dickerson  Brian Dickerson of Roetzel & Andress LPA has been named a 2013 Ohio Super Lawyer®. Mr. Dickerson focuses his practice on complex litigation and regulatory matters defending clients against government actions, administrative proceedings and parallel civil and criminal proceedings.  



    Nicholas Ray, L’97, T’01, has been named partner at Vorys Sater Seymour and Pease LLP. Mr. Ray is a member of the probate and tax group in the Columbus office. 


    Skestos  Isaac Brant Ledman & Teetor LLP announced that Danielle Skestos has been named a 2013 Ohio Super Lawyers® Rising Star. Danielle concentrates her practice in adoption law and domestic relations law.
      Melissa Yost, Senior Counsel with the office of the Ohio Consumers’ Counsel, was appointed Deputy Consumers’ Counsel by the OCC Governing Board.

     Boyle  Kerry Boyle, a partner at Wiles Boyle Burkholder and Bringardner Co., LPA has been named a 2013 Ohio Super Lawyers® Rising Star. Kerry counsels his clients in all aspects of real estate, including financing, sale and acquisition, commercial and retail leasing and litigation.


    Ellinger  Ice Miller LLP announced the promotion of Eve Ellinger to partner. Eve Ellinger handles employment litigation and traditional employment matters for clients in both the public and private sector.
     Settineri  Vorys Sater Seymour & Pease LLP announced the promotion of Michael Settineri to partner. Mr. Settineri is a member of both the Energy and Utilities group and the Labor and Employment group in Columbus.  


    Oelslager  Senator Scott Oelslager is the new chairman of the Ohio Senate Finance Committee.


    Davis  Jessica Davis of Roetzel & Andress LPA has been named a 2013 Ohio Super Lawyers® Rising Star. Ms. Davis focuses her practice on medical defense, insurance defense and general commercial litigation.


    Secrest  Jonathan Secrest of Roetzel & Andress LPA has been named a 2013 Ohio Super Lawyers® Rising Star. Mr. Secrest focuses his practice on assisting clients with employment related matter, including representation through all stages of litigation and before state and federal agencies.


     Keating Anderson  Walter Haverfield LLP announced that Susan Keating Anderson has been elected to the partnership at the downtown Cleveland law firm.  Ms. Anderson practices in the areas of labor & employment, education and civil litigation.




    Dinsmore & Shohl LLP announced that Stacey Borowicz has been promoted to partner in their Columbus office. Ms. Borowicz dedicates the majority of her business and regulatory practice to health care providers.


    Sanders  Calfee, Halter & Griswold LLP announced that Josh Sanders has been elected to partnership at the firm. Josh works on both legislative, agency and executive projects for a variety of Fortune 500 companies. He has extensive legislative experience in the areas of alcohol, tobacco, manufacturing, pharmaceuticals, technology, agriculture, energy and higher education. 
    Wiater  Justin Wiater has joined the Fitzsimmons Law Firm PLLC in Wheeling, West Virginia. Mr. Wiater spent the past four years with the Public Defender’s Office in Wheeling and will bring that experience to focus a practice in personal injury, wrongful death and general business litigation.  



    Christina M. Lyons has been promoted to partner in the Houston, Texas office of Vorys Seymour Sater and Pease LLP. She is a member of the corporate and finance practice group. 

      Shoshanna Brooker was selected to fill the position of Domestic Relations Magistrate for the Washington County Common Pleas Court. 
     Slagle  Christopher N. Slagle, a partner and chair of the government relations practice group at Bricker & Eckler LLP, was inducted into the Association of Ohio Commodores. The Association of Ohio Commodores is a group recognized by the governor of Ohio with the State’s most distinguished honor, The Executive Order of the Ohio Commodore.



     Juvan  Roetzel & Andress LPA announced that Jayne E. Juvan has joined the firm’s Business Services group as a partner in the firm’s Cleveland office. She focuses aher practice principally in the area of corporate law.
    Croghan  Jennifer Croghan of Wiles Boyle Burkholder & Bringardner Co., LPA has been named a 2013 Ohio Super Lawyers® Rising Star. Ms. Croghan has experience in municipal government, including municipal contracts, zoning and land use, public meetings and public record law, eminent domain issues, employment issues and litigation.




    Miller  Daniel B. Miller of Porter Wright Morris & Arthur LLP has been named a 2013 Ohio Super Lawyers® Rising Star in Intellectual Property Litigation. Mr. Miller represents clients primarily in commercial litigation matter, intellectual property disputes, breach of contract cases and unfair competition.
    Kuhl  John Kuhl of Vorys Sater Seymour and Pease LLP has been named a 2013 Ohio Super Lawyers® Rising Star in Eminent Domain. John is a member of the litigation group and practices in land use, zoning and eminent domain litigation.
    Traven  Michael Traven of Roetzel & Andress LPA has been named a 2013 Ohio Super Lawyers® Rising Star. Mr. Traven focuses his practice on commercial and business related transaction and litigation.  



    Mesnard   Nikki Mesnard of Wiles Boyle Burkholder & Bringardner Co., LPA has been named a 2013 Ohio Super Lawyers® Rising Star. Ms. Mesnard is an associate in the Estate Planning, Trust, and Probate Department.
    Tyler Dunham   Tyler Dunham, founder and drummer of the Columbus-based Capital Sound and an attorney with the Dublin, Ohio, law firm Standley Law Group LLP, was profiled by the Capital University magazine. Read the article. 
     Morgan  Miranda Morgan has been named a partner with Ice Miller LLP in the Columbus office. Ms. Morgan concentrates her practice in tax law with a primary focus in gift, estate and trust taxation, estate planning and estate and trust administration. 

     Cousins  John H. Cousins IV, has joined the Supreme Court of Ohio as a Judicial Attorney for Justice Judith French. John comes to the Court from the Tenth District Court of Appeals where he served as a staff attorney to Judge Lisa Sadler, L’84, since 2011.  


     Clayborn  Shantae Clayborn has opened her own private practice firm, Clayborn Law Office LLC. Ms. Clayborn will focus on family law, juvenile defense, personal injury, and medical malpractice.   



     Dawes  Shannon Dawes opened a new firm, Dawes and Parks LLC. Ms. Dawes will focus on domestic issues, criminal cases, small business, and estate planning.
    Koehler  The Cincinnati firm of Keating Meuthing & Klekamp PLL announced that Caroline M. Koehler has joined the firm as an attorney in its Labor & Employment Practice Group. 


     Allen  Martha Nenni Allen announced the birth of her daughter, Shelby May Allen. Shelby made her debut on Friday, January 18 at 6:59 a.m., weighing 7 lbs. 14.6 oz. and 21.5 inches long.
    Parks  Kelly Parks opened a new firm, Dawes and Parks LLC. Mr. Parks will practice in the areas of domestic issues, criminal cases, small business, and estate planning.  

    Beck  Christopher R. Beck has joined The Huntington National Bank as Compliance Section Manager, Capital Markets.  
    Christine Kurilic has joined the new law firm of Dawes & Parks LLC as an associate. Ms. Kurilic will focus her practice on domestic issues, criminal cases, small business and estate planning. 


    Sean Cooke has joined Benesch as an associate in the general practice group. He has experience dealing with special education matters, information privacy and public record requests; public sector technology policy and procurement and organizational conflict management.
