Objective
During your second year of law school, your focus should be on enhancing and honing legal knowledge, experience, and professional development outside of the classroom. You can begin to hone your skills through Experiential Learning, which includes internships, externships, clinical programs, and pro bono legal service.

Activities & TasksFall Semester
- Schedule an appointment with the OPD staff
- Participate in optional second year skills sessions
- Participate in National Pro Bono Celebration Week
- If taking the Ohio Bar Exam, complete and submit Character and Fitness Application by deadline
- If you are interested in federal government summer employment, research opportunities listed in the Honors Programs and Internships Handbook (available via Symplicity)
- Submit an application for spring externships
- If you are interested in federal or state judicial clerkships
- Schedule appointment with OPD
- Register profile on OSCAR
- Review the Guide to State Clerkships (available via Symplicity)
Spring Semester
Rising 3D/4E Summer
- Maintain updated resume and Linked In profile
- Attend summer receptions and events
- Observe or shadow various attorneys and court or administrative hearings
- Participate in Fall Recruiting, if interested in the participating employers
- If interested in post-graduate fellowships, consider using PSJD and applying for such opportunities as Equal Justice Works or Skadden Fellowships
